My dad served in the Leeds Rifles, Prince of Wales Own West Yorkshire Regiment in France, 1916-18. He saw action at San Quentin and other areas of northern France. He was wounded by “liquid fire” and was in a military hospital when the Armistice was declared.
He was a native of Leeds, Yorkshire and died in Atlantic City, NJ in 1955.
I have his medals, discharge papers and embroidered cards he sent my mom from the Western Front.
